Recognizing Excellence in Radiation Therapy: Howard Hazen
November 10, 2021
National Radiologic Technology week is celebrated annually on the week of November 8th. The significance of the date is to commemorate the discovery of the x-ray by Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen in November 1895. This continued celebration calls attention to the importance of recognizing the efforts of Radiation Technicians across the nation.
Every year RSA dedicates this week to highlight several Radiation Therapists who are today putting forth outstanding professionalism and align with RSA values of being Patient-Focused and Quality-Driven. Today we highlight Howard Hazen.
Howard Hazen has been a Radiation Therapist since 1992. He found his way into the oncology community after visiting his sister, who was attending University of Vermont at the time. Per his sister's suggestion, this was when he saw a linear accelerator for the first time. While Howard had planned to work in Physical Therapy or Sports Management, after seeing a linear accelerator, he was enthralled. This marked the turning point of Howard Hazen's career path. Howard says he was so interested in the science and technology of the machine and how it works. This, in combination with the ability to be part of hands-on patient care has kept Howard in the field for almost 30 years. Thank you, Howard, for being a supporter of the RSA team and everything you do to care for your patients.
